Day 61: Dry Stone Wall, Day 3

Dry Stone Wall (Watercolour)
Dry Stone Wall (Watercolour)

I’m afraid I’m cutting it fine again tonight and I’m under pressure, already getting heckled for not publishing yet 🙂 I’m sorry, It’s been a very long day, but here we are at last…

There have been various additions to this piece today: the main stone wall now has shadow lines where the stones meet, we have a new wall in the background, and the trees have had a darker wash. This is shaping up to be my most complex composition so far and I think it’s going to require quite a bit more work too, with some detail and plenty more depth to the foreground wall at the very least.

We’re actually getting out of Sydney for the weekend (it’s harder than you think!) and spending the weekend in the Hunter Valley visiting our favourite vineyard, Catherine Vale, so I’ve been setting my tablet up to make posts from, and making sure I can paint digitally, at least – I will probably pack a small watercolour painting kit as well, however, experience has shown me that it almost never gets used. I’ll have to see how distracted I get by everything, or whether I can manage to focus for 30 minutes on the stunning 100km view from the veranda of our rental cottage 😉
