Day 162: Wintery Sycamore Leaves, Part 3

Wintery Sycamore Leaves (Watercolour)
Wintery Sycamore Leaves (Watercolour)

A lovely day today, lots of sunshine but chilly… and lots of daylight for painting :-). I was so tempted to start something new but managed to discipline myself into finishing the painting of the sycamore leaves I started recently.

Another wash added, basically more contrast and colour in the nearer leaves and branches. Almost by accident the leaves ‘grew’ veins and dry, dead bits. It’s incredibly gratifying when you push your brush around and things appear as if by magic… I think this is (probably) directly proportional to the amount of practising you do – it would never have happened at all six months ago! Friends and family are starting to tire of me ranting about the benefits of giving ‘five minutes a day’ to whatever you want to improve 😛 (If only I’d believed it myself 20 years ago!).

Looking forward to whatever tomorrow brings and a new subject to tackle!
