Day 176: Cormorant on a Post, Pt. 2

Cormorant on Post (Watercolour)

I had one of those great days today, where your Boss says at 2pm ‘Why don’t you go home, there’s nothing happening…’. So I did, like a shot 🙂

And so instead of sketching something at work in my lunch break I was able to come home and paint some water in this cormorant picture. However, just before that, I did a bit of research into painting water and was lucky to find a video that had exactly what I needed on this weeks listings of TVAnytime – a video on painting a gondolier (and the water of course). It really is a great resource for tutorials with half a dozen or so videos uploaded every week covering various mediums and styles, all completely free of charge.

So, my water is beginning to look much more watery, and now I’m looking forward to attempting the juicy colours of the rusty iron and weathered wooden posts followed by some glossy black and white feathers. I expect that will probably be over the weekend… I don’t think I’ll get the same chance tomorrow of an early dash :-).
