A day at work today…. I was hoping for a brief interlude to sketch a little something, but it didn’t happen unfortunately. So, I found myself at 7pm in the German Club (our local) with a small Friday night ‘reward’ wondering what I would draw today. A quick flick through Jim’s newspaper & magazine didn’t offer very much inspiration, but there was an article on Gabrielle Chanel (sorry, but George Clooney was just too much for a Friday night!).
I’m actually quite proud that I sat in a social place and sketched, first time ever. To be honest, only two people even noticed, and one was the guy I was there with! But for me, & lots of other people, drawing in public is a real phobia so I was very pleased with myself.
I’ll post the original photo as well so you can compare them – I didn’t even know what Miss (Mademoiselle) Chanel looked like before this evening. There are discrepancies, her face is longer in my rendering and I don’t know why I started so close to the edge of the paper, but I am still learning after all! Hopefully you can see a likeness at least.
