I had to tear myself away from the cricket tonight, with only 15 runs or 1 wicket to decide whether Australia or England win the first test at Trent Bridge (almost home for me)…. But, it’s 11.20pm and if I don’t start writing I’ll miss my midnight deadline. Oh! And, that’s it! The minute I left the room England got the last wicket, sorry Australia.
How exciting, and a great end to a full weekend :-). The Newtown Jets won yesterday afternoon as well, and we had an outing to a great comedy show in the evening – El Jaguar. Not only did I get all the washing dry but I also started two paintings today.
As I had promised myself, the first is a loose first wash with no pencil work at all, to try and capture the oranges we have in our garden. I love the colours, even though they dried much softer and lighter than I expected, and I’m looking forward to adding more to it.
This second piece is another from PaintMyPhoto – their July competition is to paint a macro flower from their archives and I quite liked the idea of trying this one. The original photo has a black background which I still have to try and add, which will make the pale flower really pop. While it may not look like much so far I was really pleased to paint these petals keeping them bright and clear, without any overworking or fuss.
