Very short and sweet today…. the background has had a wash of Indigo across it and it had just the effect I was hoping for, pushing the green backwards and making the birds stand out more. It was every bit as fiddly as I expected :-).
Unfortunately it’s also meant losing some of the lovely figuring that there was in the initial wash – the greens blended when water was added and so the background’s much smoother now than it was. I dropped some water in while it was still wet to try and add more interest, but all the lovely marks from the beginning have faded away.
Tomorrow will see some refining of the birds, adding detail and more colour. Hopefully I’ll get to a stage where I can remove the masking and do some of the finishing details.
