At the moment the view from our kitchen window is dominated by three beautiful ornamental plum trees blooming in next doors’ garden, a sure sign that Spring is well and truly here. After 20 minutes out there this morning taking photos and trying to capture close up’s of the many bees flying around on them I sat down to experiment with paint.
I started with some simple colour swatches to remind me how my different pinks work, then having chosen which I’d work with (Rose Madder and Alizarin Crimson) I did some experiments to see how best to capture them on paper.
The square in the bottom left is looking great, just a little too heavy on the pink: I think it would look better with more white left unpainted. I’m ready now to try this out on a larger piece of paper.
