I’ve picked something new again to tackle today, with a photo of Globe Thistles I found on a friends website. I fell in love with the soft colours and the mix of soft and hard shapes emerging from the background.
I think I probably spent a couple of hours just playing with these, experimenting, trying different things… and still finding it really difficult waiting for things to happen!
These two snapshots are my favourites, there was another close contender but my fiddling caused it to become rather muddy in the end.
Whilst I like the second of these best, the first one is most like the actual flowers which are very spiky. The tricky bit is how to get that lovely soft effect of the halo and still capture the spikiness of the flower at the same time. Somehow I need a way to combine them both! 🙂
