I’m taking this very slowly, partly because I’m very uncertain with negative painting and how to ‘find’ flowers in loose washes, partly because I’ve been busy helping Dad convert our backyard security light so it will stay on when we want to party in the garden after the sun goes down.
I thought I hadn’t made much difference at all, until I compared my progress today with where the picture was yesterday… and there are definitely a few flower heads appearing amongst the greenery. It’s a very satisfying improvement as I’ve always found negative painting so difficult! Next I have to work out how to darken the background so it looks like it’s all connected, as well as forming leaves and stalks as I go – I hope I’m not already too late to work those bits in.
