I had an exciting surprise this morning – a friend called to say she was disposing of a drafting board with parallel motion and would I like it – oh, yes please! It’s a smallish one and will be perfect for keeping all my gear off the kitchen table.

We also had friends visiting during the afternoon, and all my paints had to be packed away so we could eat somewhere… here are some practice washes that were done before they got boxed. Jean Haines suggests loosening up with experimentation like this, it’s a good way to discover what effects you can achieve. These have added texture from throwing salt into the wet paint and also from applying scrunched cling film and letting it dry before removing it.
