The deadline for the next Members Show at Project Contemporary Artspace is drawing closer and I still haven’t prepared anything to enter yet… there’s barely two weeks now before they have to be delivered so today I’ve been doing some research and practise that will hopefully build towards a painting.
The theme for this exhibition is “Summer of Love” and I have two very different ideas for subjects. The first idea involves water and a brightly coloured sunset and since I had so much trouble with one earlier this year I wanted to get some practise and try out a few different techniques.
I like both of these but they don’t quite do what I have in my head… of the two I prefer the second one for colours however it’s a bit tight in execution. The top one goes too far the other way – it is looser but looks too messy. I might do some more tomorrow, perhaps larger ones, and see if I can manage to get better results.
