Day 337: Summer of Love, Practising (I think)…

Summer of Love (Watercolour)

Summer of Love (Watercolour)

I haven’t had much time to spend on this today, and it’s been hot again (excuses, excuses!) but I’m afraid that the small amount of time I did have has broken it… I tried to darken the top of the sky, which dulled all the clouds, and re-colouring them has made them look overworked now. I also added more colour to the trees and the foreground water, which I’m somewhat happier with.

When I put my brush down at around lunchtime I felt that it was all over for this version, and that I’d be using it as a practise piece while I started a new, fresh one tomorrow. After a few hours away from it I’m not entirely sure that’s necessary… maybe it’s not so bad and I’m just too close to appreciate it, and maybe having two on the go will make it easier to produce one I like :-). I’ll sleep on it, I think…
