I was finally able to do some serious Chinese Painting practice today, after doing a little cleaning. It was wonderful to spread everything across the kitchen table again and spend a couple of hours uninterrupted – I had started to worry that I’d be going to class empty handed on Monday.
I understand that the two paintings I posted from last class looked very similar, so today I’ve posted the same ‘before’ image from last week, as well as my best effort from today. To me the new version looks completely different (and better), I hope you can see the difference too… the composition has improved and the flower is much tighter as I was eventually able to ‘see’ more of the shape I was painting instead of concentrating on getting the technique right.
I might have another try tomorrow, however there’s a new rose popped out too and it’s been raining all day. I might just have to paint the rose before it gets washed away!
