Day 80: Magnolia Flowers Pt. 2

Magnolia Flowers (Watercolour)

Magnolia Flowers (Watercolour)

This little exercise is proving to be so much fun, even though it was chosen as a frivolity I never expected to enjoy it so much!

The branches went in so easily with a mixture of Viridian Green, Alizarin Crimson and Burnt Umber, and the underwash of the tiny new leaves offsets the pink of the flowers beautifully. I’ve also painted all the remaining petals with a base coat of Quinachridone Magenta, and they’re now all just waiting for a few more dark shades to round them out and make them look more three dimensional.
