More mushroom fun today, playing in watercolour this time… It’s been sooo much cooler today and it’s rained all day. Not very nice for going out to walk the dog but much, much better for painting in watercolour 🙂 . It’s been a joy to be able to lay down a few wet into wet brush strokes and then come back 5 – 10 minutes later and still be able to add more colour to them without getting the hard edges of painting on already dry paint.
Still sticking with the simple subject matter of yesterday’s mushrooms, and trying to be loose… although I didn’t quite manage that, there are far too many hard edges already. I painted the mushrooms first then puzzled over what colours to use in the background. Then I stopped thinking and just picked some of my favourites (Quinachridone Magenta and Indanthrene Blue). I wouldn’t say they’re a great compliment at this stage, but after pondering for too long without any action I just decided that I’d find out soon enough if it was going to work by just slapping some on!
I have a feeling I might actually prefer more of a yellow and green tinge, so I might have to try layering over the top of the background tomorrow and see what effect it has.
