Oh dear, I really shouldn’t continue painting after the light has started to fail… I was just so engrossed that I didn’t notice the sun had set and I was painting in semi darkness, and now my lovely delicate pink flower has got rather flushed!!
Tomorrow I’ll have to decide whether to try and rework it a little (maybe a light rinse under the tap?), or whether to love it for what it is… it still needs to have some darker shadows in the centre of the bloom, but obviously using stronger pigment wasn’t the right solution in this instance and I didn’t realise in time.
Of course I could always start again…
what I find most interesting is the hips – is that what they are? The round bits after the blossom has gone? The way you’ve got their interesting shapes silhouetted.
Yeah, I never really noticed but now you mention it, it does do something for the composition.
