Day 136: When Life Gives You Lemons…

Lemons (Watercolour)

Lemons (Watercolour)

What a beautiful day it has been today! We’ve just had 3 days of solid rain and more was forecast for today, and yet we woke to brilliant sunshine and incredible blue skies.

Instantly I revised my plans of painting the bedroom ceiling and we spent most of the day in the garden doing some much needed autumn groundwork – weeding, pruning, cleaning out the veggie beds. The garden all looked much better for it too. We’re not experienced gardeners and are finding our way by trial and error, so I was quite nervous taking branches out of the orange tree. It needed to be done though as it’s obviously overgrown and the lack of air circulating is causing problems, we even have ants crawling all over the tree and eating the fruit before we can – and that is seriously out of order!.

On the other hand the lemon tree is showing the benefits of the tentative pruning it got last year from Jim and is covered with fruit – it’s almost lemonade time! So, today’s painting is to be a tribute to the garden…
