Day 210: Baby Blue Tits

I borrowed another photo from PMP (Paintmyphoto) to try today. A beautiful photo of baby bluetits on a railing, it’s going to be a challenge to do justice to this photo.

I’ve started by sketching the birds – this took almost as long as most practice sessions – and then touched in a wet into wet background of Sap Green and Pale Yellow. It has some gorgeous colours and run-backs, but I think it might be a tad too vivid. The birds are supposed to be quite pale so they may get lost here. I’m thinking it might need toning down a bit before the end.

On a different note, we slept in our own bed last night for the first time since February… The room feels totally different and it’s colder than the spare (which isn’t on a corner), but the bed was lovely, I didn’t realise how much firmer it is than the spare. A good night’s sleep was had by all :-).
