Day 358: Zantedeschia, Spotted Lily

As planned, I was able to spend some extra time painting today and have reached a stage where I’m happy to stop. It’s always hard to know when a painting is finished and I sat for a good ten minutes at the end of the session wondering what to do next… at that point I decided maybe the answer was nothing.

The leaves worked out very well in the end and the masking doesn’t look too unnatural, thankfully. There has been a little more shading in places and I deepened the yellow of the flower. If I am thinking of anything it’s whether to darken the background a bit more, to try and even it out… but I think I’ll wait a few days and see if I still feel the same way after a rest from it.
