Well, my first missed post, missed by only 2 minutes, thanks to an excellent night of painfully loud music and that last encore by Neil Young, which is why I’m late… I really didn’t think he would run on until 11.30pm :-). Fortunately, I did paint before we went out (that would’ve been a really big mistake) so I have something to show even if it’s a bit tardy.
I’ve added the last few touches to the silver birch painting, following Dermot Cavanagh’s tutorial. Another great lesson with this one: I’ve been dissatisfied with it since stage two, when I had to rush, and didn’t really feel today’s session was worth the effort. It should have already gone in the bin… However, after finishing this afternoon I caught a glimpse from about 5 feet away as I was walking through the kitchen and realised it’s not that bad (especially when you’re not rubbing your nose on it from a foot away). Tell me, when will these lessons start sinking in??
Right, I’m off to get a cup of tea and nurse my ringing ears.
Yes, it was well worth the effort, and we think that the setting sunlight, on the trees, gives them a lovely warm hue. It’s a super “bright, sunny” painting.
